Feed My People - Oceanside California

For over four years the Feed My People Ministry has provided lunches and groceries to the homeless and families in need of our community in downtown Oceanside CA. Answering the community need we have outgrown our current 154 sq. ft. facility and have the opportunity to move into a larger space 422 sq. ft.. The new space requires modest renovation and procurement of equipment for meal preparation that meets health code standards. Needed equipment consists of a commercial refrigerator triple compartment stainless steel sink stainless steel prep table electric mini-tank water heater and shelving units. In addition to equipment renovation of the space requires modifications to the plumbing replacement of the current carpet with linoleum flooring minor wall repair and painting. Background: Under the aegis of Saint Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church in Oceanside CA our ministry began in the Summer of 2014. The Holy Spirit placed Gods command on our hearts saying Feed my people. We wanted to feed his people but it had to be good healthy solid food. Gods people deserve the best we can give. Our teams of 2-3 make 40 lunch sacks per day Monday Friday. Other volunteers hand out the lunches from 10:00am to Noon. Each lunch sack contains a bottle of water fresh fruit either a PBJ or cheese sandwich a salty snack and a sweet treat. Monthly grocery bags include tortillas bags of rice and pinto beans pasta cans of soup tomato sauce canned vegetables tuna peanut butter and jelly.
